{Sincerely 'Fro Me To You} School at Home

This is my first time doing this Meme. I found it on a site that was recommended by another blog I read. I like her blog because she is so real. We are "That Kind of Family" too as you may have seen from some of the pictures in previous posts. If you had not noticed you will in the future. For conformation that we are one of "those kinds of families" see this post. I like this Meme because I only started posting in April of last year and I have a lot of things I could post about from our past.

This meme allows me to do that. Interspersed throughout the post you will see many cute pictures of my dear daughters that first year of school.

The photos were taken at the end of the year Spring 1992. Rachel is in the blue dress she was in Kindergarten and was 6 years old. Jessica is in the pink dress and she was 3 years old.

Ahhh memories.

I have my Elementary Education Degree and so when I started homeschooling I did School at Home. My poor dear daughter. She sat at a little desk we bought for her and I sat at my desk.

I had posters on the walls I even had a bulletin board like I had when I taught school. You can see some of the posters on the pictures in this post. There is nothing wrong with that, I have posters on the walls right now, but the bulletin board was a little over the top.

I was so formal and I made her do every page, every problem, every activity. One good thing, at least I did not make her call me Mrs. Phillips instead of Mom, like I read about one mom doing a long time back. She hated school and many days my dear husband would come home to find me in tears because I had had such a bad day and felt like such a failure.

I was homeschooling totally on my own. I did not know about support groups or umbrella groups and I did not know anyone who was homeschooling. I found all that the next year when Rachel was in 1st grade.
I had a lot of growing to do and changed things many times over the years. My daughter was a "guinea pig" for all the things we tried. I am surprised she turned out so well. That is totally the Lord and nothing of me.

If you would like to see the other posts for this meme {Sincerely 'Fro Me To You} you will find them at We Are That Family

Expect to see a lot more photos of days gone by, some of them attesting to the fact that we are one of "those families"

Those pictures are so cute! I love the one of the girls hugging. Many of us started out with school at home. Thankfully, I stopped that about halfway through 1st grade with my oldest son.

Ah, I didn't mind (at least, not VERY much) that I was your guinea pig! Oh, well, the curse of being the oldest! =;) Thank you for trying so hard to get me to like school. Sorry for all the tears! =:( I make up for it now though don't I? =;)

Love You!
~Rachel~
