Think Back Thursday ~ Night

This week's theme
Night
... any night shot, should be outside, inside at night is just an inside shot, not a night shot.

I have a few good ones for this. Quite a few. I did pick and choose, I had a lot more than this I could have shared. I was going to post them in a slideshow but that just does not do the photos justice... so this will be a long post, but it is mostly photos and not much writing so that will help. I hope you will bare with me and actually enjoy looking back at my NIGHT photos.

Christmas 2008
We like to visit this guys lights every year. He lives about 20 min. from out house. He goes All Out for Christmas, he even has his own transformer because he kept blowing out the electricity for all his neighbors.

12-12-2009  Same house, it was colder this year.

All with the same camera, same time of day, different settings on my camera

Longwood Gardens Nighttime Fountain Show 07-01-2011

Nathan and my husband

08-12-2011 Longwood Gardens Nighttime Fountain Show and bell concert by Cast In Bronze.
Cast in Bronze was on this year's America's Got Talent YouTube performance night. It was really cool to see someone on that show that we had seen in person.

GREAT shot of the moon, you can even see the "dark spots"

I am not showing all the fountain from the show, they looked similar to the ones above...
after the show we went and looked at the waterlilies. They were gorgeous.

Rachel and Jessica, waiting for us to be done taking photos, Rachel relaxing and looking up at the sky while listening to some music on the portable CD player.

Nighttime photography is not easy and I am pleased with all these photos.
I hope you enjoyed them also.

Future Themes:
Sept. 6 - Benches
(with or without people on them)
Sept. 13 - Closeup
(of anything, I would especially like you to use any closeup features you have on your camera, get to know your camera)
Sept. 20 - Back to School
(this year, some other year, a bunch of years put together; of you, your kids, back to school supplies; whatever you want)
Sept. 27 - Relaxing/Peaceful
(whatever that means to you: a place, people, time of day, vacations, whatever...)

Here are the Rules for participating:
The purpose of Think Back Thursday is to link up a photo post about something from the past. You can reach back all the way to your childhood and bravely post pictures of you in your wild clothes and hair styles or post something from last year and tell us about it. I'm not picky. Hey, even yesterday was the past... LOL My posts will mostly be about events that happened prior to blogging, as a way to share those things with the world.
  • It can be about you, about your kids, about your parents, whomever. You can include video, I will not exclude video alone posts, but I prefer them along with photos, as this is a photo meme. I am doing a weekly theme now. That should help narrow it down from the myriad of photos we all have. For ideas check out the other posts in my label Think Back Thursday.
  • Link up below. Please use a permalink that sends readers directly to the correct post. If you are not sure what that is click the word permalink for an explanation.
  • Mention my blog and offer a link back. This is a requirement to take part and a kind gesture to me your hostess as well as your readers--they will know where to join in the fun, too. You can put the Think Back Thursday button on your site and in your post. You will find it on my right sidebar. Please use it to link to my site, to spread the word about my meme. Using the button will help others know how to find me and how to join. Tell others to click on the button in your post to find us here.
  • Leave me a comment. First so that you can let me know what you think of my pictures and secondly so that I will know a new post has been linked up and I can come visit your blog and comment on your photos.

Goal Planning Monday ~ Week 83

Time to write some goals and strive to accomplish them this coming week??

Join us by clicking on the button above...
after you read my goals.

Goal Planning Monday has a new home - the banner above will take you to the new home for Goal Planning Monday @ Real Life Unscripted even though it says it is @ mamamanuscripts. I changed the link to send you to the new place.

This was a pretty good week. I did not get everything accomplished but I did get some things done. I need to do better with homeschooling my son and keeping track of what he is doing DAILY because he skips things when I don't log the school work DAILY. He is not doing all the work he is supposed to each day and that is no ones fault but his, and mine for not keeping track of him. Homeschooling is my calling from God and I need to do better with it.

My Goals from last week and how I did:
Spiritual Goals
  1. Devotions daily -  How People Change and How People Change Study Guide: How Christ Changes Us by His Grace. Done - I am making real progress and hope to be done this book by the end of September at the latest, hopefully earlier than that. The only day I did not do How People Change was Friday because my hubby had surgery. However, I did read my Bible and pray at the surgery center so that counts. I also read my Bible more later that night when I could not sleep.
  2. Listen to Godly Music Daily. Done - this was a real encouragement to me this week.
  3. Pray daily. Done - need to get back to using my prayer book I made myself.
  4. Read some of My Utmost for His Highest before bed at night. Done
Homeschool Goals
  1. Complete all of school. That means getting Christopher to do all 12 workboxes every day. The only way to do that is to make sure he brings his computer to my bedroom each evening so he has to do all his work and have me check it before he gets his laptop back. Not Done - Unfortunately I did not know he didn't do all 12 workboxes until Sunday when I logged in his work for the week. He did most of his school, but not all of it.
  2. Log Christopher's work into the log. Done
  3. Figure out what to do for English since I can't afford to buy the next Progeny Press book/cd we need for Fellowship of the Ring. This is disappointing since we have been enjoying the study and only just started. I found some questions online that will do but they don't have the in-depth spiritual questions that Progeny Press adds in. I do not have the time or the talent to make questions on my own. I also have a few things we already own that we could use to supplement these questions but that also will not have in-depth spiritual questions about the book or questions that apply things from the book to my son's life like Progeny asks. Done- I talked with my hubby at length and decided to go with the online questions I found @ http://www.houghtonmifflinbooks.com/readers_guides/lotr/fellowring.shtml. I will also be adding in either Reacting to Literature: Writing Activities for Every Book, Grades 9-12 or http://www.knowledgeboxcentral.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_18&products_id=213 for each book we study. There are a lot more studies @ http://www.houghtonmifflinbooks.com/readers_guides/fiction.shtml if you are interested. They also have non-fiction readers guides, there is a link at the top if the link I put up to get to them.
Blog Goals
  1. Comment on the ladies blogs that link up to Goal Planning Monday. Done - I commented at Our Hostesses Blog @ Real Life: Unscripted, Kym @ Homeschool Coffee Break and Cristi @ Through the Calm and Through the Storm
  2. Post reminders to my friends/blog readers about Think Back Thursday on Wed., on Facebook groups especially. Remind them of this week's theme. Also post next month's themes so my readers can work ahead. Done
  3. Post Think Back Thursday. Done
  4. Comment on each person's post that links up for Think Back Thursday. Done
  5. Keep up with the Not Back-to-School Blog Hop. Next week is the last week,  Day-in-the-Life Week. This will take some time to right up and I need to work on it ahead of time and not leave it until Monday. Not Done- I never did post the school photos. Now I also need to post the day-in-the-life and I don't have it ready.
  6. Also make some time to comment on some blogs of this week's participants of the Not Back-to-School Blog Hop where we shared our student photos. Not Done
Personal/Other Goals
  1. Turn off the computer between 9 and 9:30. Get back to getting to bed earlier. Done
  2. Read. Done- I am still reading but I need to make it more of a priority.
  3. Exercise at least 1 or 2 times. My lower back has been hurting me as well as my knees. I need to exercise. I need to loose weight but that is hard with our financial situation. Exercise, however is something I can and should still do. Done - YEAH! I took a walk with my hubby and daughter one day and worked out on the WII one day. It is good to be back and I am looking forward to working out again this coming week.
  4. Spend some time painting with the One Touch painting stuff I got from my sister-in-law and the stuff I already have. Not Done - I don't have sufficient paint so I will not be able to do this for a long time. A lot of the paint we have is unusable and I don't have money to buy any. I will be working on other crafts I enjoy doing instead of this.
  5. Work on History Plans that I hope to sell some day, it has been a few weeks and I want to keep working on them. Done - only a little, but a little is some and since this is a long time project, I only said "Work on..." and I did work on it, I am counting this goal as done.
For this week that is 13 Done, 0 Partly Done, and 4 Not Done

My goals for this coming week:
Spiritual Goals

  2. Listen to Godly Music Daily.
  3. Pray daily.
  4. Read some of My Utmost for His Highest before bed at night.
Homeschool Goals
  1. Have a fun NOT back-to-school day of games and playing on the Wii TODAY as the public school kids go back to school. We usually do a field trip but we don't have the money or gas to go anywhere so a fun day at home is what we will do instead of book work.
  2. Complete all of school. That means getting Christopher to do all 12 workboxes every day. The only way to do that is to make sure he brings his computer to my bedroom each evening so he has to do all his work and have me check it before he gets his laptop back.
  3. Log Christopher's work into the log DAILY.

  4. Work on History Plans that I hope to sell some day, it has been a few weeks and I want to keep working on them.
  5. Work on logging books into Book Collector.
  6. Work on a craft of some kind... scrapbook, digital scrapbook, cross-stitch...
  7. Start looking at things I can do for Christmas gifts and ornaments (I make an ornament for each person in my immediate family each year for Christmas).
That's my goals for this week!! Do you have any goals? You should. You will get a lot more done if you think about what you want to accomplish with your week. Post your goals and link up. The button at the top will take you to the meme and you can join up with us.
