TOS Homeschool Crew Review - MathScore

MathScore is an online program where your child can practice many, many topics from elementary school levels through Algebra 1. Here is the page just for homeschoolers. Does you child need some more practice in his math facts? This program is like doing math worksheets except on the computer. The program is easy to use and topics are easy to find and choose from. Children can change topics easily and get practice in a lot of topics. Here are some of the many topics offered, there is a full list on the website:
  • Counting Squares
  • Fast Addition
  • Basic Word Problems
  • Telling Time
  • Bar Graphs
  • Multiplication Facts Strategies
  • Fractions to Decimals
  • Perimeter
  • Perfect Squares
  • Algebraic Word Problems
  • Pythagorean Theorem
  • Quadratic Formula
So you see they truly do cover subjects from Counting to Quadratics!

Christopher is the one that used this product. He did not use it as his main curriculum, but as a supplement. He liked it fairly well. He did not like the extra challenge of having each worksheet timed. Students are challenged to try and beat levels of the same types of problems in the topic they have chosen, doing more problems or harder ones for each level. For every incorrect answer, step-by-step solution explanations are provided, enabling students to learn efficiently.

Parents get a parent account and can check on their students progress, seeing the activities they have completed and seeing their login history (the days and amount of time they spent on each topic). On the website you will find HTML-based demos that will walk you through the features of MathScore at your own pace. Look for the "Next" link on the top right of the demos to easily move from slide-to-slide.  Student Features | Parent Features

There is a free trial available, so you can test it out for yourself here. You can't beat FREE to try something out and see if it is right for all or one of your children.

The basic pricing is like this:
  • First child: $14.95/month
  • Second child: $5/month
  • Each addition: $3.95/month
That is what you see when you visit the Home Version sign up page. For the first two months, however, the first child only costs $9.95/month.

When you start your free trial, regardless of the number of student accounts you create, you get a half-month free trial. Generally, parents know within the first few days of use whether they want to purchase MathScore, so the trial period is sufficient.

Once you log in, you can also pay for a 9-month subscription that reduces the price for the first child to $9.95/month. Once the purchase is made, the new pricing is locked in permanently, so after the 9 months, you can still pay the new rate on a monthly basis without prepaying for 9 more months.

Lump sum payment options that reduce the price for the first child and lock in that lower rate are also available. If you go on vacation or have a break in schooling, you can put your account on hold and reactivate your account with no penalty.

***MathScore provided me with a free subscription to their website so that I could do my review. Though I received this product for free I have given an honest review of it here in this post.
