Love, Pray, Wait, Trust

While doing my devotions this morning I was struck by a portion of the devotional. I made this bookmark instead of just putting a string or a button in my Bible as suggested. I want to make a couple more of them with different scrapbook paper and different colored buttons. I may even make a couple for friends at church. First I may show them mine and see if they are interested.

We are doing the Walk Thru the Bible's Daily Walk. Our whole church was challenged to do this. With the booklets you read the Bible in a year, but they have added: overviews for each book, overviews for the reading each day, charts, insights, special features and personal application. It has made the study really interesting, exciting, and challenging.

 Here is what hit me today,

"Jacob always got what he went after: birthright, blessing, wife, herds. But he paid a high price: alienation from father and brother, dissension in his own home, bitterness toward his in-laws, and continual anxiety. Sadly, he could have possessed everything he connived to get and could have enjoyed fellowhsip with God-- if he had just been willing to take God at His word (Gen. 25:23; 28: 12-15) .

Manipulation has no place in God's program. Where are you tempted to pull strings and push buttons? Do your assigned part instead: love, pray, wait, trust. And let God do His part. Put a button or a piece of string in your Bible as a "bookmark" to remind you again tomorrow just whose job is whose."

Genesis 25:23 (King James Version)
 "And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger."

Genesis 28:12-15 (King James Version)
 ^"And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. So I made myself a reminder...
Don't push people's buttons, don't pull their strings. Just...
Love
Pray
Wait
Trust
And let God do His part.

Do I trust my Abba Father and His plan for me??? Not always, but I want to.

And before you ask me, no, I don't think this means we are never to act and I don't think this means we are never to talk, but we do have to be careful of our motives and make sure they are aligned with the Word of God.
