Goal Planning Monday ~ Week 92

Time to write some goals and strive to accomplish them this coming week??

Join us by clicking on the button above...
after you read my goals.

Goal Planning Monday has a new home - the banner above will take you to the new home for Goal Planning Monday @ Real Life Unscripted even though it says it is @ mamamanuscripts. I changed the link to send you to the new place.

Well, this week the goal is to survive Hurricane Sandy. This "Frankenstorm" is already hitting us. We still have power so that is why I am able to post my goal update. I did not get a lot accomplished this weekend because I have been preparing for the storm. Things moved away from the windows and stuff I had sitting around put away or protected as much as possible. We have bags packed in case of emergency but plan to stay in our home. We are not in a flood prone area and our house is pretty solid. We will probably sleep in the basement tonight. I hope we don't loose power or if we do it doesn't stay off for long because we can't afford to loose the food we have in our freezer. This week the goals are small since I don't know how things will go with this storm. If things are fine then I can always do more and after the storm I will have many things to put back and clean up.

My Goals from last week and how I did:
Spiritual Goals
  1. Morning Devotions - including Bible reading, prayer, listening to music and reading a spiritual book currently The Resolution for Women . Done
  2. Read some of My Utmost for His Highest before bed at night. Done
Homeschool Goals
Make sure Christopher works on the Lapbook for the Rainforest study we are doing. I included some elements from Homeschool Share's Great Kapok Tree unit and from 2 pages of the Dynamic 2 Moms website - Here and Here. Not Done - I did terrible this week keeping track of school. After the hurricane passes I want to do better. School will be spotty until the hurricane passes and power is restored if we loose it.

Blog Goals
  1. Comment on the ladies blogs that link up to Goal Planning Monday. Not Done - sorry ladies, I was spending time with my daughters and then preparing for hurricane Sandy. Don't know if I will get to comment today or later this week either. Will have to see. If I keep power I will try and comment on those who link up today.
  2. Post reminder and future themes for Think Back Thursday on Wed.  Done
  3. Post Think Back Thursday. Done
  4. Comment on each person's post that links up for Think Back Thursday. Done
Personal/Other Goals
  1. Read. I will have time tomorrow while on the way to the airport, if I can concentrate. Done
  2. Exercise at least 1 or 2 times. Not Done
  3. Clean up my house. Done
  4. Make a dessert. Done
  5. Air out my daughters bedroom. Done
  6. Go to the airport on Tuesday. Pick up my daughters from their 3 week trip to Texas. Done
  7. Spend LOTS of time with my daughters/family. This is my priority for the week. Anything else that gets done will be extra. Done - we spent lots of time just hanging out together, watching movies, cuddling. It has been great. I missed them so much.
For this week that is 11 Done, 0 Partly Done, and 3 Not Done

My goals for this coming week:
Spiritual Goals
  1. Morning Devotions - including Bible reading, prayer, listening to music and reading a spiritual book currently The Resolution for Women .
  2. Read some of My Utmost for His Highest before bed at night.
Homeschool Goals
School will be hit and miss until the Hurricane passes. If we have power later in the week I want to make sure Christopher works on the Lapbook for the Rainforest study we are doing. I included some elements from Homeschool Share's Great Kapok Tree unit and from 2 pages of the Dynamic 2 Moms website - Here and Here.

Blog Goals
  1. Comment on the ladies blogs that link up to Goal Planning Monday, if I have power.
  2. Post reminder and future themes for Think Back Thursday on Wed., if I have power.
  3. Post Think Back Thursday, if I have power.
  4. Comment on each person's post that links up for Think Back Thursday, if I have power.
Personal/Other Goals
  1. Read. I should have lots of time for this with the hurricane upon us, especially if we loose power.
  2. Spend time with my family and stay safe during the hurricane. We have food, snacks and water, batteries, flashlights and candles. Water frozen in the freezer to help save our food longer in case we loose power.
  3. Survive and recover from Hurricane Sandy.
That's my goals for this week. Join us, we'd love some new participants.

a recent photo or one from days gone by

Here are the Rules for participating:
The purpose of Think Back Thursday is to link up a photo post about something from the past. You can reach back all the way to your childhood and bravely post pictures of you in your wild clothes and hair styles or post something from last year and tell us about it. I'm not picky. Hey, even yesterday was the past... LOL My posts will mostly be about events that happened prior to blogging, as a way to share those things with the world.
  • It can be about you, about your kids, about your parents, whomever. You can include video, I will not exclude video alone posts, but I prefer them along with photos, as this is a photo meme. I am doing a weekly theme now. That should help narrow it down from the myriad of photos we all have. For ideas check out the other posts in my label Think Back Thursday.
  • Link up below. Please use a permalink that sends readers directly to the correct post. If you are not sure what that is click the word permalink for an explanation.
  • Mention my blog and offer a link back. This is a requirement to take part and a kind gesture to me your hostess as well as your readers--they will know where to join in the fun, too. You can put the Think Back Thursday button on your site and in your post. You will find it on my right sidebar. Please use it to link to my site, to spread the word about my meme. Using the button will help others know how to find me and how to join. Tell others to click on the button in your post to find us here.
  • Leave me a comment. First so that you can let me know what you think of my pictures and secondly so that I will know a new post has been linked up and I can come visit your blog and comment on your photos.

Goal Planning Monday ~ Week 91

Time to write some goals and strive to accomplish them this coming week??

Join us by clicking on the button above...
after you read my goals.

Goal Planning Monday has a new home - the banner above will take you to the new home for Goal Planning Monday @ Real Life Unscripted even though it says it is @ mamamanuscripts. I changed the link to send you to the new place.

I am changing up how I write my goals. Things seem to be getting boring and if they are boring to me they must be boring to my readers. So I am trying to shorten or be more specific about my goals and post some links for homeschooling and pictures of things I have completed.

  1. Make sure Christopher completes all of school. Done
  2. Log Christopher's work into the log DAILY. Done
Blog Goals
  1. Comment on the ladies blogs that link up to Goal Planning Monday. Done- I commented at our hostess's blog @ Real Life Unscripted also at Kym @ Homeschool Coffee Break and Cristi @ Through the Calm and Through the Storm and Meg @ Adventures with Jude.
  2. Post reminders for Think Back Thursday on Wed. Done - I also posted the themes for all of November.
  3. Post Think Back Thursday. Done
  4. Comment on each person's post that links up for Think Back Thursday. Done
  5. Post letter E, F and G for Blogging Through the Alphabet and comment on some blogs that link up. I am behind. I would also like to get letter H ready so I can post it on Monday Morning. Not Done - I did not get this done last week so I think I am quitting this. I am to far behind to catch up now. I would have to do all 4 today and I have other things to do.
  6. Write a post that is NOT linked to a meme. Not Done
Personal/Other Goals
  1. Turn off the computer between 9 and 9:30. Get back to getting to bed earlier. Partly Done - None of us have been getting to bed early and I haven't even been keeping track. I am sure I turned my computer off early a couple days. Other than that I think it was rather late.
  2. Read. More. I didn't get much reading done in Sept. I want to do better. Done - I am slowly making my way through Lion of Babylon, by Davis Bunn. I finished chapter 20.
  3. Exercise at least 1 or 2 times. My lower back has been hurting me as well as my knees. I need to exercise. I need to loose weight but that is hard with our financial situation. Exercise, however is something I can and should still do. Hubby bought me some batteries just for me to use on the Wii. Done
  4. Work on Christmas gifts and ornaments (I make an ornament for each person in my immediate family each year for Christmas) and this year because we don't have any money to spend on Christmas I am making each person a gift. This week I would like to finish at least 2 ornaments. Partly Done I have completed one, the other ornament is almost done. The mouse in the sneaker is for my son Nathan The gingerbread man is almost done. I need a few more red lines for the background and then between the red lines there are supposed to be green lines.
  5. Work on a brand new writing project - a picture book for children. Not Done
  6. Log books in to book collector. I want to finish at least one tub of books this week. I need a more specific goal so I get this done and out of my bedroom. Done - I logged in all these books, a whole tub full. I wish I had kept track of exactly how many books were in the tub. I would guess somewhere around 75-100.
  7. Start working on saving files from my New folder to my backups and external drive. I have saved a lot of new things lately and I want to make sure they are protected and saved. I plan to save the new file to my external drive and then after I get them saved into the correct files I can delete the new file from the external drive. Done
  8. Keep doing better with housework, especially the dishes and pots. Done
For this week that is 13 Done, 2 Partly Done, and 3 Not Done

My goals for this coming week:
Spiritual Goals
  1. Morning Devotions - including Bible reading, prayer, listening to music and reading a spiritual book currently The Resolution for Women .
  2. Read some of My Utmost for His Highest before bed at night.

Think Back Thursday ~ Railroad/Train/Train Tracks

Today

Railroad / Train / Train Tracks

March 1999
On the train at the Franklin Institute with friends

Christmas 2001
The boys got wooden trains for Christmas. Similar to but cheaper than the Thomas the Tank Engine trains, the Thomas trains fit on this track and we bought them some Thomas trains to go with the cheaper track.

All the kids had fun playing with them the next few days.

I also had some pictures of my boys playing with their trains with a friend in their bedroom, and of us setting up the trains to simulate the joining of the Pacific and Union Railroad as a school project; but I could NOT find them.
 10-31-06
Philadelphia Zoo train
Christopher looks excited!
Nathan looks thrilled, right!! LOL

08-25-10
I took this photo for a photo project I was doing called the 365 project. You were to take a photo a day. In this case, however, we had a photo challenge. This photo was for something that disappeared into the distance. I did not ultimately choose this photo, I choose a row of candles because the colors were so great. But, I like this photo also.

01-07-12
Longwood Gardens
Last look at the Christmas things before it all got taken down and found this railroad for the first time. It was fun finding new stuff we had missed at Longwood each time we went. There was soooo much to see you could never see it all in one visit.

They had Thomas trains for the kids! My boys used to love Thomas.

There are more pictures and video of the trains at Longwood at this previous post of mine, if you are interested.

 Future Themes:
10/25 Autumn
11/1 Baby

11/8 Out of Focus
I have lots of thesehttp://zaazu.com
NOTE: one of my readers and regular participants, Kym Thorpe, asked how she would choose from among all her out of focus pictures, I too will have trouble. But don't despair, I am SURE I will do this theme again, just because I have sooooo many photos to choose from. So, make a folder with the name Out of Focus Pictures and start saving them for the future. Pick out the ones you want to use this time and save some for later. Oh, and I am sure we will add to this as we take more out of focus photos in the days to come! LOL
