The Homeschool Crew reviewed the All About Spelling Program and the Beehive Reader 1 earlier this year. I got be one of the reviewers for the Beehive Reader 1. Here is the link to my Beehive Reader 1 review. Now they are putting out "What Am I?" an All About Reading Level 2 reading book. The book is supposed to be out now and will be up on their website soon. They were supposed to be selling it for the first time at the Midwest Homeschool Conference in Ohio. This book has illustrations that are as cute as the Beehive reader. If you click on the samples below you will see the vocabulary used as well as the illustrations. I don't have a young reader in the house but I read the stories myself.
As you can see on this page there is a lot more writing on the pages of this level than there was in the Beehive Reader 1.
The vocabulary in these stories is more advanced. Meant for 1st or 2nd grade readers, depending on your child's reading level of course not their grade level. Looking at the samples to the right will give you a good overview of the vocabulary used. They used more advanced sight words, words with blends and compound words, too.
This was my favorite story from the book... "Skunk Hotel."
But, my favorite section in the book is called "Just for You: Poems for Fun." My favorite poem in that section is called "In My Backpack" and the What Am I riddles... hence the name of the book. The riddles are a lot of fun. There are little pictures in the corner of the page to give the kids an extra hint... really cute.

This story about the pet shop is good too. All the stories are interesting, fun and ... just great. This should really encourage young readers and I can't wait to hear my very, very, future grandchildren reading these stories to me some day.
Out of five stars I give the Beehive Reader 1:

***All About Spelling provided me with the the "What Am I?" reader so that I could do my review. Though I received this product for free I have given an honest review of it here in this post.

They should be available on the website in the next week or two. Also, according to reliable sources All About Spelling is coming out with two new readers in the next week or so... the other is called "The Queen Bee." Keep you eyes peeled.
