Think Back Thursday ~ Christmas Traditions

The purpose of Think Back Thursday is to link up a photo post about something from the past. You can reach back all the way to your childhood and bravely post pictures of you in your wild clothes and hair styles or post something from last year and tell us about it. I'm not picky. Hey, even yesterday was the past... LOL I hope you will join us.

I posted last week's theme right under this week's if you did last week's theme... Christmas Decorations... you are welcome to link up... if you missed it and want to still do it, that would be fine too.

Today
Christmas Traditions

We have a bunch of traditions.
First tradition that I want to highlight, and I have pictures of is sitting on the stairs.

When I was little my parents used to have me sit on the stairs on Christmas morning while they went down and made sure everything was ready. The Christmas lights on on the Christmas tree.  The stocking hung. And now, we do the same thing... but we add Christmas music playing in the background.
Here are some photos of the kids, and my Mom is in some of them as well, sitting on our stairs.

The other tradition we have is Christmas Brunch.
My mom used to do this so my sister and brother, who were married and lived in the area, could open Christmas presents with their kids at home and then come join us for Brunch. We carry on the tradition, though it is just us. My sister has joined us for brunch once or twice over the years but usually it is just us. Brunch is more formal. We set the table with my Christmas plates. For brunch we usually have 2 kinds of pancakes - banana nut and normal pancakes with homemade blueberry syrup. We also have eggs, sausage, bacon, and scrapple.

The only other meal we have on Christmas is cookies with a veggie platter and a cheese and cracker platter. That way we don't have to cook again on Christmas day. We can just relax and enjoy the day and each other. This is very laid back and the cookies stay in the tins/ziplock bags so we can munch throughout the day.

My sister and her husband joined us this year and brought us a fruit bouquet. It was delicious.

Dec. 27 Christmas Long Ago
(how long ago is up to you :-)

Here are the Rules for participating:
  • It can be about you, about your kids, about your parents, whomever. You can include video, I will not exclude video alone posts, but I prefer them along with photos, as this is a photo meme. I am doing a weekly theme now. That should help narrow it down from the myriad of photos we all have. For ideas check out the other posts in my label Think Back Thursday.
  • Link up below. Please use a permalink that sends readers directly to the correct post. If you are not sure what that is click the word permalink for an explanation.
  • Mention my blog and offer a link back. This is a requirement to take part and a kind gesture to me your hostess as well as your readers--they will know where to join in the fun, too. You can put the Think Back Thursday button on your site and in your post. You will find it on my right sidebar. Please use it to link to my site, to spread the word about my meme. Using the button will help others know how to find me and how to join. Tell others to click on the button in your post to find us here.
  • Leave me a comment. First so that you can let me know what you think of my pictures and secondly so that I will know a new post has been linked up and I can come visit your blog and comment on your photos.

  1. Love that collection of pictures on the stairs. Fun way to see how everyone has changed over the years.

We are leaving on our Christmas trip a little earlier than I'd planned on so I am frantically getting ready this morning and don't think I'll have time to get a post up this week. And next week's will depend how long the linky is open past Thursday. We'll be back on the weekend.

    Have a wonderful Christmas!
