Wednesday Hodgepodge~ It's Your Lucky Day

1. What would you do if you found a pot of gold? Let's pretend this pot of gold is worth exactly $1500 (which would actually be more like a cup of gold at current values). Anyway, let's also pretend you have to spend it as opposed to making a donation someplace. Now tell me what you would do with that cup pot of gold? Oh, you ask such hard questions. There are so many things I would want to do with it. Curriculum for next year. Spring Ladies Retreat our church goes on. A Vacation... probably at Williamsburg/Jamestown/Yorktown. We have not had a vacation in a looooooong time.

2. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form? Some years we have, but most years we don't. We are not Irish. We have on occasion done a short study with lapbooks and book about St. Patrick but most years... nothing.

3. Have you been bitten by the Spring Cleaning bug? What spring cleaning job most needs doing at your house? What spring cleaning job are you most dreading? Yes. We bought a new vacuum! YEAH! Ours has been broken and was a hand me down and never really worked very well. This got hubby into a cleaning and organizing mood and he is getting out of his down slump, not quite depression but close to it, and back to wanting to make to do lists and get things done!! He has been very down because of his unemployment being a year now and our future and finances, too. Yippee!

4. lime-shamrock-sage-forest...your favorite shade of green? Spring!!! Spring Green that is. Unless I am wearing it then I like Hunter Green.

5. Thomas Jefferson once said, "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." So...do you believe in luck or do you believe we make our own luck? I do not believe in luck. God is sovereign and every good thing comes from him. The bad, too, is allowed into our lives by God's hand to help us grow or to correct our path. All things come from God.

6. Monday (3/14) was Pi Day. Get it? Pi =3.14. Those math types are so clever aren't they? Since I'm not one of them tell me what's your favorite piE (the edible kind). Peanut Butter Pie. We only make it at Thanksgiving because it is soooo rich and full of calories.

7. That same date (3/14) happens to be the birthdate of the late physicist Albert Einstein. I bet he knew the value of Pi. So...what do you think is more important and or valuable in life... intelligence or common sense? Since I have to choose from those two I choose Common Sense. I can't really tell you why though.

8. Insert your own random thought here. Days and weeks are flying by. I have so much to accomplish and feel like I need time to stand still for a while and let me catch up, but God only preformed that miracle once, lol, and I don't think he will do it again. So I must prioritize and do the important things and just leave the other undone and not get stressed about it.

  1. Boy, can I identify with the upsetting unemployment dilemma. I spent nearly two years unemployed, and it shattered my self-confidence. I learned how to completely rely on God to meet all of my financial obligations. In the end, He blessed me with a challenging but rewarding job.

  2. Debbie, I see on your profile that you are a home schooler Mom and it sounds as though you are very good at it. I have such admiration for folks like you.

I so enjoyed your post and you didn't say, but I assume your Hubby is still without work. I pray that doors of employment will open for him very soon. What tough economic times we live in right now.

    Warm blessings to you!

  4. I echo Lea and Auburnchick's best wishes for employment. Such a difficult time to go through. Have faith, He can do all things.
