Goal Planning Monday ~ Week 40

Time to write some goals and strive to accomplish them this coming week??

Join us by clicking on the button above...
after you read my goals.

This was not a good week for goals. Thursday night last week my hubby was taken to the hospital... in an ambulance. It was a harrowing experience. I cannot go into details... they are too personal. Suffice it to say I have not had that much adrenaline pumping through my body in a long time... if ever.. and there was a lot of blood. After the ambulance left with him I had to calm down. I had to drive to the hospital, so we would have a way home. My oldest daughter (age 25) went with me, the 2 middle kids were up and comforting each other (ages 22 and 17), the youngest (14) slept through the whole thing. We got home about 4:30 in the am with no diagnosis but the problem seemed to be corrected. They gave him antibiotics and we have a appointment with a specialist on Nov. 9th. For now things seem fine, but we have no idea what caused the problem.

Friday we slept and rested. Friday night we all slept fine... we were exhausted.
Saturday night dd 22 and I did not get to sleep until 4:30 again... due to worry, upset or just hungry stomachs, and my sinuses were killing me.
Sunday we went to church but missed Sunday school.
Today it was back to school, but we started late and did not get everything done. Hopefully the rest of the week will be smoother and uneventful.

All that to say... many of my goals will be marked Not Done this week... and now you know why.

Homeschool Goals
  1. Keep homeschooling and make sure the boys do all 12 workboxes every day or no computer time.
  2. Read aloud to the boys... this counts toward my 100 books in a year goal.
  3. Work on my History plans for later in the year.
  4. Compile the hours that the boys have done for each subject of school so far this year so they know how much they have accomplished and how much more they need to do.... especially important for Nathan because he is graduating this year.
Health and Fitness Goals - New meme - check out my Weightloss Wednesday post if you are interested.

Blog Goals
  1. I have my Blast From The Past ready for tomorrow and I like knowing that I worked on it more than a week ago and it is all ready to post tomorrow. I want to work on all the Blast From The Past posts for Nov. and have them all ready to go way ahead so it is a pleasure to do them and not so much of a chore.

I don't think I will make 100 books, since tomorrow starts Nov., but I will not quit. I will read as much as I can.
  3. Finish straightening my bedroom.
  4. One on One time with Rachel.
  5. Saturday we have the Fall Festival at our church. It was supposed to be last Saturday but was canceled due to rain, freezing rain, snow, and sleet. It was a mess here on Sat. If they had not cancelled it we would have missed it. We decided not to go because of my husband's incident... the it was postponed to this coming Sat. So dd Rachel will be baking for the bake-off and some of the family will be volunteering.
Well that is my update on how I did last week and the goals for this coming week. Priorities changed last week. Spending time as a family was of the utmost importance. The crisis made us all so much more thankful for and appreciative of each other. Hopefully I can get some of my goals accomplished this coming week. I am surprised that I have been doing this meme for 40 weeks already. I have linked up each week and I have only missed 1 week so far. That is wonderful.

How about you? Do you have any goals for the week? Post your goals and link up. The button at the top will take you to the meme's label and you can join up with us.

Wednesday Hodgepodge ~ no. 50

1. What gives you goosebumps? Praise and Worship music sung from the heart at my church.

2. Halloween-are you a lover or a hater? Okay, that sounds harsh...Halloween-yay or nay? Yay and Nay. We have done Halloween, Halloween alternatives (like at church), and no Halloween. This year we are helping with the Fall Festival at church on Saturday and Halloween evening you will find us all home, with the porch light out, playing games or watching a movie.

3. Can you respect someone you do not trust, and can you trust someone you do not respect? No. I can respect something they do, or their position/job, but I can't respect someone that I can't trust, what is respectable about being untrustworthy. And I could never trust someone that I don't respect, if I can't respect them I could not trust them. Got that?

4. Apples or oranges? Yes, you have to choose. Oranges.

5. What is something you wish was in your town? (shop, restaurant, attraction, etc) Shady Maple Smorgasbord and Farm Market

6. What non-food item is in your refrigerator or freezer? Only thing I can think of without going to look, and I don't feel like looking, is our freezer packs. You know... the kind you freeze and then put in a cooler to keep food and drinks cold. They are the only thing I can think of right now... but at least I thought of something.

7. Are you at all superstitious? Nope!

8. Insert your own random thought here. I am waiting for a game I won from a Timberdoodle contest. I am not waiting very patiently. I hope it arrives soon. When it arrives and we have a chance to play it I will do a review for you.

Weight Loss Wednesdays ~ Exercise

It seems that Dawn at  http://guidinglighths.com/category/weight-loss/  has ended her Management Monday fitness posts so I will be linking up with a different one. It seems I have already been following Confessions Of A Snowflake but her blog got lost amongst all the other blogs I follow. So I will be linking up with her meme Weight Loss Wednesdays from now on.

They have topics of concentration each week. This week is exercise. My favorite exercises are on the Wii. I have never found anything that I like to do more than work out on the Wii. We have the Wii Fit. I love the variety of exercises. Each day I can do different exercises in these areas: balance, aerobics, strength training, and yoga. Back in March I posted about my routine on the Wii... HERE is the link... if you are interested. There are some links to videos on YouTube of the games I play the most.

Exercise Smilie Pictures, Images and Photos
My Weight Loss and Fitness Goals From Last Week and How I Did:
  1. Exercise at least 3 days and hopefully 4 or more, on the Wii. Exercised 2 days on the Wii and made excuses the other days.
  2. Drink my water... at least 48 oz... but strive for 64. Some days I was successful, others not successful, others I didn't keep track. So, How do I keep track of my water intake??? Do I write down each cup of water I drink? No, I use rubber bands on my cup. My daughter likes how I keep track of my water intake and said I should share it on my blog. I thought I had already done that but I looked and I never really explained it. My cup holds 16oz of water. I try and drink 6-8 8oz. cups of water a day... 64 oz. total. That would be 4 16oz. cups, so 4 of my cups is my goal each day. That is my cup in the picture on the right. Each time I fill my cup I put a rubber band up to the top. When I fill it up for the 4th time then I know when I have drunk all the water in that cup that I have met my goal for the day. So to fulfill my goal I have to drink at least 3 and hopefully 4 full cups of water a day. Each day I start with just 1 at the top again, when I fill it up in the morning. I have still not found my journal for keeping track so I have been writing my water intake on a calendar. I hope this gives you ideas of how to track you water intake and I hope this particular trick helps someone drink more water and track it better.Keep track of what I eat and don't eat junk food... stick to Weight Watchers diet as much as possible. I did not track my eating. I STILL need to find my Weight Watchers calculator and note pad where I keep these records.
  3. Eat more veggies and fruit. Did better this week but not great. I should do really well this week since we purchased a lot of fruit and veggies at Shady Maple Farm Market yesterday.
  4. Don't snack after 8pm. Mostly successful on this. Need to keep it up.
  5. Get to bed earlier... goal is computer/tv off at 9:30, read for 1/2 an hour then bed at 10pm, but any improvement on the after 11pm late nights I have been doing will be good. I think I got to bed early one night. But I am working on it and I did get off my computer early 2 or 3 nights. So... I am doing better, but not good.
Weight stayed the same - 244.7 lb
I updated my weight loss ticker.
I weighed myself on Tuesday... I missed exercising on Monday. Next week I will start weighing myself on Wednesdays.

http://zaazu.comGoals for Next Week:
  1. Exercise at least 3 days and hopefully 4 or more, on the Wii. I am only working out about 30 min. a day. When I was really loosing I was working our one day for an hour and at least one day 45 min. and then 2 or 3 days 30 min. I really want to get back to that.
  2. Drink my water... at least 48 oz... but strive for 64.
  3. Keep track of what I eat and don't eat junk food... stick to Weight Watchers diet as much as possible.
  4. Eat more veggies and fruit which will be easy this week since we bought such good stuff at Shady Maple yesterday.
  5. Don't snack after 8pm.
  6. Get to bed earlier... goal is computer/tv off at 9:30, read for 1/2 an hour then bed at 10pm, but any improvement on the after 11pm late nights I have been doing will be good.
Have a great week and link up with us by clicking the button at the top.

Goal Planning Monday ~ Week 39

Time to write some goals and strive to accomplish them this coming week??

Join us by clicking on the button above...
after you read my goals.

I made a great deal of progress this week on my goals. I am only sorry that I did not get a note written to my husband. That is priority one this week. That and spending time with my daughter Jessica.

My Goals from last week and how I did:

Spiritual Goals
  1. Keep up with Reading the Bible in a Year. Done I am finishing up the book of Luke.
  2. Read Power of a Praying Wife and leave hubby a note for each chapter I read. He needs the extra prayers and encouragement. Homeschool Goals. Not Done
  3. Read Chapter 3 of God's Priorities for Today's Woman for Ladies Bible Study on Friday. Done I not only read my chapter but I lead the Ladies Bible Study on Friday. Our regular leader had an emergency. Thursday night she called and asked if I could lead class. I was as prepared on Friday as I could be but very nervous. The ladies and I covered the whole chapter, including the questions at the end. We had a lively discussion. The Lord answered my prayers and guided my words. I am so very grateful.
Homeschool Goals
  1. Keep homeschooling and make sure the boys do all 12 workboxes every day or no computer time. Done We had a pretty good week. We ended up taking Thursday off because I had an emotion filled day and could not bear to do school. I needed the break.

    Health and Fitness Goals

After I finish reading this I will be reading book 4 of the Love Comes Softly series... if I find it... it is missing in the mess of my bedroom. I also have a few books I want to order from the library for personal reading. Done I finished Pierre's Lucky Pouch and enjoyed it very much. It gives a very good look at early New Orleans, Louisiana. I started reading Love's Abiding Joy by Janette Oke.

Blast From The Past ~ NGA 2010

I was late getting this posted last night. Instead of posting late when less people would see it I decided to just wait and have it post Wed. morning.

I decided to post pictures from the NGA Ingathering from last year because this week is NGA Ingathering week. There is a day of sorting new clothing, bedding and some toiletries to give to local Chester County, PA. and then a luncheon the next day where we give the items to local charities. Most of the items are purchased on sale at local stores, some things are new items made by the ladies of NGA.

Nathan... on the left with the white sheet of paper.

            My hubby in very back.

My mom in the white sweater.

            Rachel in the purple coat...
            Christopher behind her.

We put most of the clothing in bags under the tables, but leave some out for display for Thursday.

             Then we all eat lunch.

The next day the charities that are supported by NGA of Concordville come to a luncheon. After a welcome by Anne, the Concordville branch president, we eat. After lunch each charity is given a chance to update us with what has been going on in the past year. Then we help them load their cars.

Seated at the table on the right hand side are my husband, Court, and Nathan.

We sang at the luncheon last year.

Rachel has a couple of items for NGA this year. I would like to do more next year and have something of my own to take and give to the charities besides my time. I like for my kids to have this experience giving to those less fortunate than us. It also counts for volunteer hours that we have them do for High School. Watch later this week or early next week for pictures from this year's Ingathering.

            Now it is your turn.

Here are the Rules for participating:
The purpose of Blast From The Past is to link up a post about something from the past. You can reach back all the way to your childhood and bravely post pictures of you in your wild clothes and hair styles or post something from last year and tell us about it. I'm not picky. Management Monday - A weight loss and exercise meme

            Guiding Light Homeschool

Exercise Smilie Pictures, Images and PhotosMy Weight Loss and Fitness Goals From Last Week and How I Did:
            1. Exercise at least 3 days and hopefully 4 or more, on the Wii. Exercised 3 days on the Wii.
            2. Walk at Longwood on Friday with my friend Michele after we go to Ladies Bible Study together. Had a great time with Michele and walked for 4 hours.
            3. Drink my water... at least 48 oz... but strive for 64. Not sure... I need to start tracking this instead of guessing.
            4. Keep track of what I eat and don't eat junk food... stick to Weight Watchers diet as much as possible. I did not track my eating. I need to find my Weight Watchers calculator and note pad where I keep these records.
            5. Eat more veggies and fruit which will require a trip to the store to get some and cleaning out the fridge so it the good new stuff will fit and so that the stuff that has gone bad will not affect the new produce and get where it belongs... in the garbage. Fridge is cleaned out and hubby bought some fruit and veggies today. Hopefully this will be a week of eating better.
            6. Don't snack after 8pm. Mostly successful on this. Need to keep it up.
            7. Get to bed earlier... goal is computer/tv off at 9:30, read for 1/2 an hour then bed at 10pm, but any improvement on the after 11pm late nights I have been doing will be good. Did not succeed on this. But hope to do better. I did work on getting to bed earlier, though not by 10:00... and if I want to get to bed by 10pm tonight I need to get going, finish this post and locate and print the stuff for our new composer and artist lickety-split.
I did not loose this week... but I did not gain either. That is good. Hopefully this will be a better week, especially eating wise. I updated my ticker though it did not change since I didn't loose anything. But it adds another date to my chart at the bottom of my blog.
