Spirit Filled Sunday ~ Bethlehem, Galilee, Gethsemane

From one of my favorite Gaither dvd's
Jerusalem
I love all the songs on this dvd

I was listening to this dvd today while I cleaned
I was happy to find this song on YouTube to share. I thought it was appropriate for the week after Easter since the impact of the cross, and what Christ did for us, should move us to action every day
not just on Easter Sunday

Blast From The Past ~ Nathan the Super Boy

Sorry this is a day late. I totally forgot. I have been working so hard on getting my list ready for what I need for school next year.

This week I am featuring Nathan
He liked to "dress up" or undress you may like to say
and play that he was a super hero
so...
Here is Nathan
Super Boy
January 1998
http://zaazu.com
 Cutie
Nathan would have been about 3 1/2 years old.
Yes that is our Christmas tree still up in the corner so I am sure it was cold outside.
Nathan has never really been bothered by being cold though so being in just a diaper, baby blanket for a cape and his mittens and boots would not have phased him.

Here are the Rules for participating:
The purpose of Blast From The Past is to link up a post about something from the past. You can reach back all the way to your childhood and bravely post pictures of you in your wild clothes and hair styles or post something from last year and tell us about it. I'm not picky. Hey, even yesterday was the past... LOL My posts will mostly be about events that happened prior to blogging, as a way to share those things with the world.
  • It can be about you, about your kids, about your parents, about whatever. For ideas check out the other posts in my label Blast From the Past.
  • Please use a permalink that sends readers directly to the correct post. If you are not sure what that is click the work permalink for an explanation.
  • Mention my blog and offer a link back to the main page of my blog. http://debbiesdigest.blogspot.com/ This is a requirement to take part and a kind gesture to me your hostess as well as your readers--they will know where to join in the fun, too. You can put the Blast From The Past button on your site and in your post. Please use it to link to my site, to spread the word about my meme. Using the button will help others know how to find me and how to join. Tell others to click on the button in your post to find us here.
  • Leave me a comment. First so that you can let me know what you think of my pictures and secondly so that I will know a new post has been linked up and I can come visit your blog and comment on your photos.

Healthy Home ~ Gain

Time for my fitness and weight update. I did not do well this week. I did exercise Saturday 40 minutes, Monday 33 minutes, Wednesday 31 minutes, Thursday 30 minutes and today I walked around the grocery store with my husband for over an hour and came home to tired to work out further. My weight last Friday was 238.5. It is now 239.9 so I gained 1.4 lbs. http://zaazu.com I did not keep track of my food intake and that is undoubtedly one of the problems. The 2 cheesecakes my daughter made are another part of the problem. Actually the problem is not her cooking themhttp://zaazu.combut my eating them. I love cheesecake and could not resist. Also tonight we had homemade pizza. http://zaazu.com

I have been drinking my water. I can't do without it now and still feel thirsty if I drink other things.

I would like to loose some more weight before my daughters' friends visit in June, so I will strive to get back to it this week. I want to track my food intake and limit my snacks.

Goals for this coming week:
  1. Work out at least 4 days and I want at least one of them to be 45 minute workout.
  2. Keep my food diary and track food and Weight Watchers points. Limit after dinner snacking.
  3. Drink at least 46 oz. of water a day.
Click the button at the top and link up your posts for The Healthy Home every Friday.

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What is something that bothers you if it is not done perfectly? I can't think of anything. I am not really a perfectionist. I am especially glad to have it done imperfectly if someone else is doing it and I don't have to! LOL My son says I like my blog posts perfect. I do like to correct spelling but I never consider my posts perfect so I don't count that!

2. What is one of your best childhood memories? Sunday Outings - My dad loved to take drives on Sunday after church and I never knew where we would end up.  As far as I know he never planned these trips. Each Sunday we would take off in the car after church. Most weeks we would go out to lunch, some weeks we would pop in on relatives and we never called first. If they were home and it was ok to stay good, if they were out or busy that was fine too. Some weeks we ended up on a blanket at Valley Forge and some weeks we would walk at Longwood Gardens. I loved both of these places... still do. Some weeks we would just drive after we ate. My dad said we were never lost as long as we had gas in the tank. He would drive and drive and sometimes get "lost" for a while then we would come upon a road Dad remembered and then he would know where he was again. I loved these days... times with my mom and dad and I don't remember doing this with any siblings... only Mom and Dad and I.

3. Do you plan to watch the Royal Wedding and when was the last time you wore a hat? I do not plan to watch the Royal Wedding. The last time I wore a hat was one sunny day at winterthur last year. I wore my straw hat to shade my face... it is pretty... it has straw flowers on it.

4. Where do you fall in the birth order in your family? Do you think this has influenced your personality? I am the youngest of 4, my siblings are 9, 12, and 15 years older than I am ... and yes... this definitely affected my personality. I am outgoing because I went everywhere with my mom and dad... my sibling are all much older than I am. My sister says I grew up in a completely different family... almost like an only child. By the time I have memories of my childhood my siblings were mostly grown and 2 of them were not living at home any more. My sister also says I was spoiled, but I was never a brat, I was a good girl who tried to please her parents and her Lord.

5. Where do you think you spend most of your money? Me personally or the family???? Me personally it would be Books. Used and New! I love books!!!!!!

Family I am not sure? Home improvements, mortgage, car insurance??? I am not sure what costs us the most??? Maybe it is gas for the car??? It is soooo expensive these days. Maybe it is the electric bill with all the lights, computers, appliances to run and air conditioning we use??? I don't really know. I guess I should know more about the bills we pay but when my hubby and I talk about those things I get so emotional and he shuts down and the discussion ends. It is the way it is.

6. When you need to confront someone would you rather communicate in person, on the phone, by email or by letter? Why? Depend who it is. I would rather do it by mail but sometimes it has to be done in person. I hate confrontation so I avoid it completely if I can.

7. Dodge ball, freeze tag, kickball or jump rope? You have to pick one. Jump Rope!
I picked my favorite from childhood. Second would be kickball or freeze tag. Never ever would I pick dodge ball... hated it with a vengeance... afraid of getting "killed".

8. Insert your own random thought here. Though I have a lot of projects to work on over the summer I still can't wait for school to be done. Only 7 more days and then summer break. It will be a busy but welcome break. The closer it gets the slower time seems to go and that is frustrating because I know summer will fly by and I will not accomplish all that is on my summer to-do list.

It has been a real journey so far and I have been glad to be blogging all along the way. I have been very thankful for the followers and commenter's on my blog... for all of you that read my blog regularly. I also like new followers and readers.

I have enjoyed the meme's and the carnivals, sharing information and pictures of my family, info and pictures of me and my hubby, TOS Crew reviews, reviews of books and materials we like and use/read, spiritual posts and music, health and fitness, homeschooling, lapbooking, workboxes and Winterthur. It has been grand and I pray it will continue to be so. I pray along the way I lifted you spirits, helped you gain knowledge or understanding, and helped you laugh. I thank you for sharing yourselves with me on your blogs and in your comments. I also want to thank you for your encouragement and for your prayers for myself and my family. Please continue praying especially about my husband needing a job after more than a year of unemployment.
In honor of my 3rd blogiversary I am going to be giving away

Here is what you could win

First we have 2 hot pads.
My daughter Rachel made these especially for this giveaway.

They are machine washable and filled with 100% cotton batting.

The 3rd item is a journal.
It is a composition notebook that I covered and decorated with scraps of wallpaper.
I love doing this.
I also used cardstock for the the verse on the front.
The back has the same wallpaper without the ladybug or verse.

Goal Planning Monday ~ Week 13

It is Goal Planning Monday. Do you have goals. How are you doing with them?? April is almost over and so is school for us. We have 2 weeks left. Then I have to work on Portfolios and Nathan's Transcripts. But for now here is my update and then my goals for this coming week.

I did not get to start reading The King Will Make A Way I am still reading Somewhere a Song I am now on chapter 18 so I made some progress on that book this week. I need to get my school need/want list done so I can discuss it with my husband before we go to the homeschool convention. I worked on it quite a lot last week but I am not done. That will continue to be priority one until I am finished. I am still working on logging books into Book Collector but did not log any in this week. I got back to working out and lost 2 1/2 lbs last week. I had gained 3 lbs the 2 weeks I was sick so I lost most of that. Hopefully I did not gain to much over the weekend with all the goodies we had while my friend Becky was visiting. We have known each other for 36 years... since 9th grade. Boy am I getting old.

So I worked on 3 out of 5 of my goals. Not to bad.

I usually only post 5 goals but I am adding to that this week. I always have more goals than I post on my blog and this week I decided to add a few to the list. That way when I get more accomplished I can "brag" about it. LOL http://zaazu.com Hopefully that will be the results, not that I will get less accomplished, as I would have to admit that, to my shame. http://zaazu.com

My goals for this coming week are to:

  1. Work on my need/want list for school for next year.
  2. Exercise at least 4 days and I want at least one of them to be a 45 minute workout. Last weeks 4 workouts were all 30 minutes. I am working my way back.
  3. Read The King Will Make A Way by Lee Giles
  4. Read Somewhere a Song by Judith Pella.
  5. Log books into my Book Collector software.
  6. Finish Planning the last 2 weeks of school.
  7. Get meal plans done for May.
  8. Choose winner for my Blogaversary winner on Tuesday and get the gifts mailed out.
  9. Get the book reviews done of books I have finished reading so I can count them for my 100 books challenge and my 52 books in 52 weeks challenge, both for this year.
Goal Planning Monday is hosted by Katrina of Mama Manuscripts click this link or the button at the top.

Spirit Filled Sunday ~ Christ the Lord is Risen Today and Up From the Grave

These are two of my favorite Easter songs. I remember singing them as a child at the Easter Sunrise services near our home. We really got there before sunrise and the outdoor stands that we used at the horse show grounds faced east so we could see the sun rise. What glorious memories.

I hope you are a child of the King, saved, redeemed and on your way to heaven and that you celebrate this day all year long! Someday he's coming back!! What a day THAT will be!!!

Oh,What A Savior

Once I was straying in sin's dark valley,
No hope withing could I see,
I searched Thru heaven and found a Savior,
To save a poor lost sould like me

Chorus

Oh what a Savior! Oh Hallelujah
His heart was broken on Calvary,
HIs hands we nail scared: His side was driven,
He gave his life blood for you and me

He left the Father, with all his riches,
WIth calmess sweet and serene,
Came down from heaven and gave his life blood
To make the vilest sinner clean.

Chorus

Death's chilly waters I'll soon be crossing,
His hands will lead me safe o're
I'll join the chirus in that great city,
And sing up there for ever more

Amen... Oh, What A Savior

Healthy Home ~ Better

I used to do Fit Mommy Friday. It was co-sponsored by Mrs. White at The Legacy of Home. She is now taking over and expanding the Fit Mommy Friday. Writings can be about anything related to Family happiness, Family game time, Family health, Mother's fitness, Outdoor activities or Nourishing foods.

http://zaazu.comThis week I got back to working out on the Wii!! Yeah! I am mostly healthy. I worked out Mon., Tues., and Wed. I wanted to work out yesterday and today but I just did not fit it in my schedule. I have a friend visiting for the Easter weekend and today we spent cleaning and shopping. I plan to work out tomorrow. I only worked out 30 minutes each day this week also... but that is ok... I am just getting started again. Next week I hope to do a little better. I had gained 3 lbs. while I was sick and not working out for 2 weeks. This week I lost 2.5 of that. Yeah... hopefully I will loose the last 1/2 lb this coming week and more. Since my friend is visiting we have planned special meals and desserts. Also Sunday at church we have a brunch. Hopefully I won't gain this week. I will try and be good, not eat to many sweets, and  watch my portion size. I wanted to post a recipe that I made this past week that is healthy and gluten free but I don't have time now. I will try and post it for next week's link up.

Goals for next week:

  1. Work out at least 4 days and I want at least one of them to be 45 minute workout.
  2. Keep my food diary and track food and Weight Watchers points. Limit after dinner snacking.
  3. Drink at least 46 oz. of water a day.
Click the button at the top and link up your posts for The Healthy Home every Friday morning.
